New Iberia Worker Confronts Suspect With Pot

New Iberia Sign
New Iberia Sign, KPEL

Yesterday before 5 p.m. the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office was called out to Pop’s Barbeque after they received a report of an armed robbery.  The woman working at the business decided to defend herself, and she used what she had on hand to make that happen.

The victim says she was inside of the business when the suspect walked in carrying a knife.   Fearing for her life, the woman grabbed a pot that was on the counter, and started swinging.  The victim was able to repeatedly hit the suspect with the pot.

The suspect then fled the area on foot.  He is described as a black male wearing a dark shirt and dark pants, who is about six feet tall and weighing about 170 pounds.  Deputies says the suspect may have sustained noticeable injuries from his encounter with the victim.

Detectives working the case are asking if anyone has information about the incident, to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-369-3711.
