Lafayette Parish School Board members will get an education on school system policy and finances during an orientation session scheduled for the beginning of the new year.

According to the Advertiser, Interim Superintendent Burnell LeJeune said the session will be "very, very general" and will focus on district policies, board members' responsibilities, system finances, curriculum matters, and how each department functions.

Other minor items, such as how to cast a vote at board meetings, will be covered as well.

The orientation session will serve to educate board members, especially the seven incoming new board members elected by Lafayette Parish voters in the last election cycle.
