A local membership dog park and pub is coming soon to Lafayette.

According to Developing Lafayette, Barkopolis Park + Pub is expected to open in the area between Albertsons on Johnston Street and Cajundome Blvd. (Exact address unknown at this time.)

The concept is new to the area, but probably will be a big hit. It will be a paid membership dog park accessible dusk till the early morning hours. Memberships will be $150 annually, $20 monthly or $5 for a day pass per dog.

Yes, the area has a few dog parks that are public and free. So why pay to bring your dog to the park? Barkopolis will verify that each dog is current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered and well behaved before becoming a member.

Here are some of the things Barkopolis Park + Pub will offer your dog and their humans:

  • Off-leash indoor & outdoor park
  • Small & large dog area
  • Obstacle course
  • Fountain or pool for play
  • Competition training equipment
  • Seating for two leggers
  • Yard games
  • Available bags for your dogs
  • Pub with food & drinks

I think this could be something huge. What do you think? Is this something you'd try or nah, not paying for it?
