NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police have arrested a suspect for allegedly shooting a police officer in the leg.

Police say the shooting happened late Monday night while members of a task force were working an area of high crime.

Police have not identified the wounded officer or the suspect that was arrested a short time later.

Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said the wounded officer's injury was not believed to be serious.

Officer Frank Robertson says paramedics brought the suspect to the hospital to be examined after a police dog bit him.
