New Orleans Police Officer Attacked, Man Arrested

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans man is in custody for allegedly using a Taser on a police officer during an altercation at an upscale apartment complex in the Mid-City neighborhood.

Police say Officer Brittany Marigny responded to a domestic disturbance call late Monday. WVUE-TV reports a woman and her 25-year-old boyfriend argued and he locked her out. The man eventually let Marigny and his girlfriend into the apartment and he left. When he returned, he walked into another room before joining the women. When Marigny ordered him to show both of his hands, he pulled the devise, struck the officer’s arm and fled.

The officer was treated and released from an area hospital.

Brandon Bernard surrendered Thursday morning. He faces charges of aggravated battery and battery on a police officer.
