New Orleans Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 9 Injured
New Orleans Police say one man is dead and nine others injured following a shooting in the French Quarter.
Officers responded to a shooting around 1:30am Sunday at the intersection of Iberville and Bourbon streets.
According to Police Superintendent Michael Harrison, the shooting victims' ages ranged from 20 to 37 and included two females and eight males. One male victim died at the hospital.
Harrison said police do not know the motivation for the shooting, but one male victim was among two men arrested on firearms charges.
The shooting happened despite increased police presence for the Bayou Classic football game Saturday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
No further information was immediately available and an investigation is ongoing.
