NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The TPC Louisiana in New Orleans will host the 93rd edition of the Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship.

The four-day event, which begins Thursday, will field 144 players from across Louisiana who will compete over 72 holes for the title.

Greg Bertholot of Baton Rouge, who won the title last year, will not return to defend the title because he has since turned professional. But, 14 of the top 20 finishers from 2011 will return including 2011 runner-up Brent Struthers of Baton Rouge and third-place finisher Patrick Christovich of New Orleans. Christovich has also won the last two LGA Mid-Amateur Championships.

The TPC Louisiana course, host to the PGA Tour's annual stop in New Orleans — the Zurich Classic, is hosting the amateur tournament for the second time.
