A new tool will be used by the state's colleges and universities to check their preparation programs for teachers. The Louisiana Board of Regents announced at their monthly meeting that the new teacher evaluation program that partly grades teachers on student achievement, will be used by higher education to make sure they are doing their job of preparing teachers for the classroom.  The older system, set up in 2003, rated colleges and universities programs based on how well new teachers performed on the job, but now it will include a student's performance as part of a teacher's annual review.  The new way begins in the 2012-2013 school year.
