WASHINGTON (AP) — A freshman congresswoman from New York City says she was hit in the head and robbed in Washington, D.C., but wasn't seriously hurt.

Democrat Grace Meng says she was walking from a restaurant to her apartment in the Capitol Hill neighborhood Tuesday night when she was hit in the back of the head and her purse was snatched. She bruised her chin when she fell.

Police recovered her cell phone and are pulling it for fingerprints.
