NEW YORK (AP) — Eighteen-year-olds in New York who want to smoke legally will have to wait three years and should start putting away some cash as well.

The New York City Council has voted to raise the age for buying cigarettes from 18-21.

It also approved a bill that sets a minimum $10.50-a-pack price for cigarettes and steps up law enforcement on illegal tobacco sales.
