A sign in the lobby of the National Toy Hall of Fame says simply 'Play's the Thing', and boy isn't that the truth! The newest inductees into the Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York, were announced this week, and they are Twister, the Puppet, and Super Soaker.

According to the New York Times, the final say on who goes in, and who doesn't, 'rests with the judges, a 24-person advisory committee of authors, illustrators and scholars, none of whom are employed directly by a toy manufacturer.'

From Wikipedia: Criteria for induction include: icon status (the toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered); longevity (more than a passing fad); discovery (fosters learning, creativity, or discovery); and innovation (profoundly changed play or toy design).

So far there have been 57 toys inducted, and .....we love them all!
