The NFL rejected the contracts of two recently-signed New Orleans Saints players.

The league disapproved the reserve/future contracts for receiver Josh Huff and linebacker Jayrone Elliott on Monday.

Both players, who were signed last week, become unrestricted free agents once again.

It is not known why the NFL disapproved of the deals.

One issue may have been roster limit. The Saints were already at 90 players after the first wave of reserve/future contract signings, and the additions of Huff and Elliott placed the team at 92.

NFL teams can sign free agents to a reserve/future contract as long as that player was not on the active roster when the regular season ended.

The 26-year old Huff, who played his college football at Oregon, was a third-round selection of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft.

In three seasons with the Eagles, Huff compiled 48 catches for 482 yards and 4 touchdowns.

A native of Houston, Texas, Huff also served as Philadelphia's main return man on special teams, scoring on two kick-return touchdowns.

Arrested for unlawfully possessing a weapon in 2016, Huff was released by the Eagles late in the 2016 season, before spending the rest of the campaign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huff was out of the league in 2017.

The 26-year old Elliott entered the league in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo with the Green Bay Packers., where he spent three seasons (2014-16), prior to being traded for a brief two-week stint with the Dallas Cowboys in 2017.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Elliott has appeared in 39 career games, totaling 57 tackles, to go along with four sacks, one interception, and a forced fumble.
