Each year, Lafayette is one of 15,000 communities across America who participate in the "National Night Out Against Crime".  Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton says the event is an effort to shore up crime prevention and more.

Mouton says this year's National Night out for Lafayette will once again be held at Girard Park, but there are similar celebrations in Broussard and Duson.  Mouton says their will be games, prizes and food for kids along with their families. 

Mouton that many displays will be out at the park for kids to get into to learn about preventing impaired driving, how to have a plan for escaping a fire, and how to prevent crime.
