As part of continuing efforts to speed up wait times at Offices of Motor Vehicles across the state, Louisiana State Police says you'll now be able to use plastic to pay your fee.

Capt. Doug Cain says his department is excited to announce that multiple forms of payment will now be accepted for services.

"You know one of the complaints we've heard over the years is having to have cash and running to an OMV, then having to leave to get cash because you didn't have the right amount," said Cain.

Cain says this means citizens will now be able to pay their fees by using debit cards, credit cards and e-checks.

The department is also urging people to use those services available online at expresslane.org to reduce human traffic within the OMV waiting room.

There is a fee of $1.25 plus 1 percent of the total charge on all debit and credit card transactions. Cain says there is a flat $1 convenience fee on all e-checks.
