Charges will not be filed against Lafayette Parish Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper over an incident involving school board member Tehmi Chassion.

Multiple media outlets reported in February that yelling could be heard from the executive board room while board members were in executive session behind closed doors.

Chassion accused Cooper of placing his hands on him and swinging him around in his chair. No one was arrested over the alleged incident.

City Attorney Gary Haynes told KATC that the facts "will not reasonably result in conviction" and that prosecutors must prove beyond a resonalble doubt any case against a defendant.
