North Toledo Bend Boat Launch Now Open

The Office of State Parks reports today that the North Toledo Bend State Park boat launch near Zwolle is now open to boat traffic.  The South Toledo Bend State Park boat launch is still closed.

The South launch is still closed as they are still waiting for dredging of the boat lanes by the Sabine River Authority.  Both of the boat launches had to be closed back in July because there were extremely low levels at the Toledo Bend Reservoir.  It has been a problem since the summer, but at least now the North Toledo Bend boat launch has opened again.

According to Sharon Broussard with the Office Of State Parks, the water level at Toledo's Reservoir is still very low, and is considered still low enough that it is below the recommmended level for safety for water sports, so her office is advising everyone to avoid high speeds while on the water.
