One local high school is using the football season to build parental awareness and interest.

Before Northside High School's first home game on September 13, parents are invited to the football stadium starting at 5:00 p.m. to learn how to help their student become more successful at NHS. The event will be set up as an open house where parents may walk around to meet teachers, get information about tutoring, ACT, classes, scholarships, Webpam's Parent Portal, and many other opportunities and support systems available at NHS. There will be a fun jump to entertain children as well as snacks for parents to enjoy as they walk around gathering information. Parents who complete the tour will be eligible for door prizes that will be announced during the football game.

"We want to reach out to our parents and make them aware of many different ways to help the children be successful in school," says Northside High School Assistant Principal Julie Williams. "When parents have the tools to help their children we can work as a team to see them succeed."
