Jeff Addicott, former Green Beret and  Director for the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary's University joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today to discuss President Obama's ongoing efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba.

President Obama has repeatedly said he would close Guantanamo and when asked what he thought of the President's comments Addicott replied,

He looks weak when he makes statements he can't support.  Whatever the statements are, back it up.  Everyone laughs at you when you don't.  Four or five years ago he said he would close Guantanamo within a year and it didn't happen.  The reason it didn't happen is because your own party, the Democrats took control of the House and Senate and said that's the dumbest thing we've ever heard and we're not giving you the money to do it.

By the President saying he will close Gitmo (Guantanamo) Addicott feels we are admitting wrongdoing,

When you say we'll close Gitmo you're saying to the world we did something wrong by locking up these enemy combatants...My question to the President is 'what did we do wrong?'  Didn't they incinerate 3,000 people?  Didn't they attack us?  Didn't they start this war?  We did nothing wrong.  We have a right to incarcerate them indefinitely.  If we had a President with a spine he would announce 'I'm going to build another wing onto Gitmo'.

Addicott says we may not have enough evidence to charge some of the jihadists being held at Gitmo but,

All we know is they look you in the eye and say 'Let me out of here and I'm going to kill you'.  So we say 'We believe you.  We're going to detain you as an enemy combatant indefinitely.  The war laws say we can'.

Addicott had a lot more to say including how the jihadists order 'take out' from the McDonald's just outside the gates of Gitmo.  Take a listen to the interview:
