WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has summoned Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki (shin-SEHK'-ee) to the White House to discuss ongoing problems at the beleaguered agency.

Obama and Shinseki are meeting this morning with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors, who was assigned to oversee a review of the VA health care system in response to allegations of treatment delays and preventable deaths.

Nabors is scheduled to travel to Phoenix on Thursday to meet with staff at the VA office whose reported problems led to nationwide outrage.

The White House meeting comes a day after Shinseki and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel met with the House Appropriations Committee to discuss how their departments can improve interactions between their health records systems.
