Obama To Propose New System For Rating Colleges
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama wants to see a new rating system for colleges -- one that is based partly on affordability. And the goal would eventually be to link those ratings to federal financial aid awards.
Colleges would be rated on a series of measures -- including average tuition and student loan debt, graduation rates, and the average earnings of graduates.
Obama is unveiling the proposals today as he starts a two-day bus tour through New York and Pennsylvania.
