A study is underway to determine the long-term effects that oil and the dispersants used to clean it up have had on workers involved in the BP oil spill clean up.Initial interviews are being conducted with cleanup workers in four states who will be followed for ten years.  Workers are already sharing health complaints with researchers from the National Institute of Environmental Health, but they say it is too early to say if the effects are related to the oil spill cleanup.
