One Killed After Pickup Truck Veers Off I-10

RAYNE, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a 47-year-old Illinois woman has died in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in Acadia Parish.

Master Trooper Brooks David (DAH-veed) says a pickup truck hauling a triple-axle trailer veered off the roadway Wednesday and struck a tree.

David says the accident occurred while Sandra Farris, of Roxana, Illinois, was with her husband, 55-year-old Robert Farris, and daughter, 19-year-old Marissa Farris, heading east on Interstate 10 near Rayne in a truck hauling a trailer that held two large propellers.

David says Sandra Farris, who was riding in the back seat, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He says Robert and Marissa Farris were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
