One Person Dead Following Iberia Parish Crash

A New Iberia woman was killed this morning in a two-vehicle crash on La. 86 in Iberia Parish.

Master Trooper Brooks David reported 68-year-old Linda Bergeron was killed when her vehicle was struck an opposing vehicle.

David said a GMC Sierra driven by 64-year-old Gale Holmes, also of New Iberia. crossed the center line of the highway after failing to negotiate a turn. Holmes's GMC Sierra struck Bergeron's Honda Accord.

Though Bergeron was wearing a seat belt she sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner's Office.

Holmes was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to Lafayette General Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation and charges may be pending.
