One person was shot in the leg following a Saturday evening shooting in Iberia Parish.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called out to a report of a shooting Saturday night on Rosalie Street at about 7:30 p.m., where they found a 29-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim told police three black suspects tried to rob him on Anderson Street near its intersection with Mixon Street. One of the suspects allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him, the victim said.

The suspects fled the scene on foot, police said.

The victim was taken to a home on Rosalie Street by family members, and he was then taken to a nearby hospital by Acadian Ambulance.
