Opelousas Alderman To Propose Law To Revitalize Downtown

The Opelousas Board of Alderman plans to propose and ordinance next month which they say will help revitalize the city's downtown area. Right now, the central business district is zoned for businesses, but the ordinance would rezone that area for residences. The hope is to attract apartments and to convert already existing commercial buildings into living spaces. Many of those buildings are currently vacant.
