The suspect wanted for the Nov. 28 armed robbery of an Opelousas grocery store was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Clay Higgins reported Samuel Alexander Burns III was arrested during a traffic stop by Louisiana State Police.

Higgins said detectives utilized surveillance video from the Kountry Quick Stop, located on La. 167 in Opelousas, to identify the suspect and the getaway vehicle.

Within 24 hours of the crime scene photos being released, state troopers stopped Burns and verified his identity as the suspect.

He is being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
