If you have ever had anything stolen from your home, then you know how frustrating it can be.  A new website operating in Opelousas is working well though in matching up stolen items with the people who actually own them.

Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow says they have a website that shows the public items that they have recovered while arresting criminals.  Now the public can look for their stolen goods.

The Chief says he was able to return a weed eater stolen from Daine Pellerin.  He says she was able to identify that it was hers after looking at it on the website at opelousaspd.com

Gallow says everything that people see at that website were recovered through various police investigations.

Sgt. Jody White says there may be a variety of different items that police recover when they bust a suspect, but it is not always an easy task to return those items to the folks that had them stolen.

White says the website serves two purposes as people get their stuff back, and criminals can be prosecuted.
