An Opelousas man is behind bars after allegedly stealing more than $35,000 in outdoor equipment.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says 42-year-old James Ervin Brock Jr. stole from several different businesses. Some of the items recovered were a 2004 Kobelco Excavator ($26,400 value);  a 20 Tandem extra-heavy duty trailer ($3,700 value) reported stolen to Crowley Police Department on May 10; a 2011 14-foot utility trailer ($1315 value) reported stolen to the Rayne Police Department on June 13; and a 2006 Polaris 4-wheeler ($4,000 value) reported stolen to Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.

Brock was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail facing 2 counts of illegal possession of stolen things. The case is still under investigation, and more charges could follow.
