OPELOUSAS, La. (KPEL) -- St. Landry Parish deputies have arrested an Opelousas man on charges he robbed a truck stop casino.

According to sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Megan Vizena, 25-year-old Dudley Melancon, Jr. walked into the truck stop on Dec. 30, handed the cashier a note demanding money, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Vizena said the cashier was able to get a description of Dudley's vehicle and his license plate number.

Dudley was arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail with a bond of $25,000, Vizena said.

The case remains under investigation, Vizena said, and she urges anyone with information about the crime to call St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers at 948-TIPS.
