OPELOUSAS, La. (KPEL) -- A 21-year-old Opelousas man has been arrested for allegedly gunning down a man on Emma Street Sunday.

Chief Perry Gallow said Diovanni Lafountian was charged with the second-degree murder of 28-year-old Jermaine Andrus and will appear before a magistrate Wednesday morning.

Investigators are not closing the case, Gallow said, because there is still much work to do. The motive for the shooting appears to be robbery, Gallow said.

John Davis was arrested and briefly questioned Monday, but he was released.
