OPELOUSAS, La. (KPEL) -- An Opelousas man is in jail, accused of creating counterfeit payroll checks, money orders, and other related documents that defrauded businesses across the country out of millions of dollars.

St. Landry Parish Bobby Guidroz said Nelson Durald was booked on 151 counts of monetary instrument abuse.

Durald allegedly created the highly realistic documents and cashed them at businesses across the region, including some in St. Landry Parish, Guidroz said.

The case remains under investigation and more arrests could be possible.
