The Opelousas Crime Suppression Team served a search warrant at home on Platers Street this week after conducting surveillance of the home based on a tip.

Officers forcefully went into the home at 833 Planters Street and found in plain view drugs and money.

Police say they found:

  • 1.5 pounds of marijuana packed for sale
  • Promethazine syrup
  • Cash
  • Drug paraphernalia

The street value of the drugs is around $2000.

Police say 27-year-old Brian Jones fled the home, but he was later tracked down on Mia Street.

Jones was charged with:

  • Possession with intent to distribute schedule 1 drugs
  • Possession with intent to distribute schedule 5 drugs

Police Chief Perry Gallow says anyone can call their office anonymously to report illegal activity at 337-948-2500.
