A 49-year-old Opelousas man was killed as the result of a single-vehicle crash just after midnight Saturday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop I spokesperson Trooper Stephen Hammons, Joe Jock was driving his truck north on La. Highway 182. As he drove into a curve, Hammons said he crossed the center line, entered a ditch, and struck a cement culvert.

Jock was not wearing a seat belt, and he was ejected from his truck, Hammons said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish coroner.

Hammons said it's not known if alcohol played a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology samples were sent to the state police crime lab.
