The body of a man who drove his truck into a bayou has been recovered.

State Police say Joseph Charles of Opelousas didn't stop at the intersection of Highway 103 and Church Street, hitting a road sign and then plunging into the Bayou Teche. Police tried searching for him last night but weren't successful. With the help of several area police agencies, Charles' body was pulled from the body Thursday afternoon.

Troopers believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash, and a toxicology sample has been sent for analysis.
