An Opelousas man is now in jail after he allegedly tried to break into three homes and a business in the Broussard area Wednesday morning.

Broussard police told KATC-TV 3 that 42-year-old Shawn Marks was found by police on South Jefferson Street after fleeing the scene of one of the break-ins.

One of the victims reportedly told police that Marks tried to force his way into his home, but he ran away after being confronted.

Marks is charged with three counts of attempted home invasion and one count of simple burglary, and he has been booked without bond into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
