32-year old Laquantin Green of Opelousas was involved in an incident with police September 12th.  St. Martin Parish deputies say they encountered Green after being called to a home in Breaux Bridge on Saltmine Road.  They say he had a handgun and engaged the deputy that arrived on the scene.  The deputy then fired his gun, hitting Green in the upper torso.

Louisiana State Police investigated the incident and gathered evidence confirming the report by police.  They got an arrest warrant and were able to take Green in without incident, once he was released from an area hospital for injuries from the incident.

Green is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm and terrorizing.

Police continue to investigate.
