Opelousas Woman Arrested For Allegedly Falsifyng Checks

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says an Opelousas woman has been arrested and charged on 67 counts of monetary instrument abuse.

Jessica L. Fontenot is accused of falsifying checks at her place of employment.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said,

"On February 7, we received a complaint from a local business owner stating he suspected that the accused was forging several payroll checks. During an investigation, it was discovered that Fontenot had written and cashed a total of 67 checks totaling up to $31,295.50."

Fontenot is incarcerated at the St. Landry Parish Jail.  Her bond has been set at $50,000.
