Opelousas Woman Accused Of Sending Sexual Messages To 10-Year-Old Boy Through Social Media

18-year-old Gabrielle Marie Fontenot of Opelousas has been arrested for allegedly sending lewd and sexual messages to a 10-year-old boy through social media.

Captain Megan Vizena with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says Fontenot admitted to sending the messages to not only this victim, but to other children as well. Capt. Vizena says the investigation started after a complaint was filed against Fontenot.

"If any parent discovers that this is happening with their children, they are asked to call our office to make a formal complaint,” says Vizena. “Just like adults, juveniles are using the internet to connect with friends through personal messages, sharing photos, videos, and other kinds of information. We want to encourage parents to be proactive in looking at what your child is engaging in, not only online but on their mobile devices as well,” Vizena added.

Gabrielle Fontenot faces one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
