Operation Dry Water Seeks To Keep Drunk Boaters Off The Roadway

Increased patrols are on the water checking for DWI boaters this weekend.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Spokesman Adam Einck says they will be checking hot spots for drinking. He reminds us that DWI laws are the same on the water as if you were driving a vehicle on the roadways.

Louisiana has been participating in this federal event since 2009. Einck credits this program, along with their boater’s safety course, for helping to keep the number of fatalities down.
