Ouachita Parish School Committee Supports Partial Hiring Freeze
MONROE, La. (AP) — The Ouachita Parish School Board's finance committee has voted to recommend the board continue the district's partial hiring freeze through the 2012-13 fiscal year.
The News-Star reports the board will consider the recommendation in its meeting Thursday.
Committee members will also recommend on Monday the district continue its suspension on accepting new applications except for certified teachers and bus driver positions.
Additionally, the committee will recommend that certified teachers be allowed to apply for paraprofessional positions.
