MONROE, La. (AP) — The Ouachita Parish School Board is considering a redistricting plan that pits one incumbent board member against another for reelection

The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/TvolgW) the new plan also creates a new district without an incumbent which could increase the west side's representation on the seven-member board.

Board members refer to it as the "5-2 plan" because of its potential to elect another board member from the west side of the parish, puts board member Susan Spence and board member Carey Walker in the same district on the east side of the Ouachita River.

The 5-2 plan is among the four plans the Ouachita Parish School Board will consider at a meeting Thursday.
