Out-Of-State Man Shot In Drive-By In Lafayette

A 40-year-old California man survives an apparent drive by shooting early Saturday morning in Lafayette.

LPD spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton says it happened around 1:00 a.m. as the victim was standing outside an apartment complex in the 200 block of Rue Royale. Cpl. Mouton says a vehicle occupied by numerous black males stopped in the roadway, with one of the suspects 4-5 times before striking the victim once in the lower leg. He went to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
