This coming Friday Louisiana State Police will conduct a D-W-I checkpoint in St. Landry Parish.  The checkpoint starts at 9:00 o'clock Friday night and will go through Saturday morning at 3:00.

Trooper Stephen Hammons tells KPEL troopers will be looking for any impaired drivers as well as aggressive drivers and anyone who is not wearing a seat belt.

Hammons says as always troopers will have a zero tolerance for impaired persons found to be operating a motor vehicle.  Hammons wants to remind drivers that impairment is not only caused by alcohol.  Any driver found to be under the influence of certain narcotic medications, illegal substances, or certain over-the-counter medication can also be arrested for DWI.

If you plan to drink make sure you designate a driver.  If you see an aggressive or impaired driver you can report them by calling *LSP (*577) or your local law enforcement agency.
