Lafayette Police Department officers will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint this Friday night.

Lafayette Police Corporal Karl Ratcliff reports the OWI Checkpoint event will start at 9 o'clock Friday night and wrap up at around 3 o'clock Saturday morning.

Officers will remove any impaired drivers from the streets whether they are drunk or impaired by any other substances.

The best advice from law enforcement is to designate a driver who will not be impaired to drive for you before you hit the bars or other entertainment venues.

Fines and jail time can be very costly if you are arrested for an OWI.
