Lafayette law enforcement officials will be holding a sobriety checkpoint this Friday.

The OWI checkpoint starts this Friday evening at 9 o'clock and will run through 3 o'clock Saturday morning with Lafayette Police officials saying they will respond with zero tolerance to anyone who is driving impaired.

So whether someone is impaired by alcohol or another substance, they will be removing those people from our roadways.

Officers ask that if you plan to be drinking, you should designate a driver, get a ride from a trusted person who won't be drinking or pay for a ride home from a driving service like a taxi cab or Uber.

Driving while under the influence can lead to serious injury or death along with costly fees and having to spend time in jail.
