Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed his first bill of the regular legislative session into law, a measure to ensure oyster safety. The bill requires that for raw oysters to be sold from May 1st to October 31st of each year, they must be refrigerated within five hours of harvesting. The legislation was backed by the state Oyster Task Force and the Louisiana Oystermen's Association.
