SLIDELL, La. (AP) — Slidell police say a former director of nursing at a nursing home and a former teacher were stealing prescription medicines to sell.

Police said Monday they had arrested 36-year-old Patrick Lampard, who had been director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after they went to his house Friday on a medical call and saw medication packages scattered about. They say Lampard and 46-year-old Bonnie Pritchard, a former teacher at Abney Elementary School, admitted to stealing the drugs to sell to a drug dealer. Police say their aim was to pay off debt and save for a trip to Las Vegas.

Abney is charged with 11 drug possession counts and theft over $100,000. Abney is charged with 11 drug possession counts and introducing drugs into a correctional facility.

Both remain jailed Monday.
