Celebrity actress and activist Pamela Anderson has considered a way to take a slice out of Louisiana'a budget--and she's sharing her idea with Gov. John Bel Edwards himself.

Anderon, an honorary director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), has sent a letter to Edwards urging him to delete meat from state prisons.

Our news partner, KATC, shared the full text of the letter in which Anderson outlines the benefits that could be incurred if state prisoners would be on a vegan diet.

The activist wrote Edwards: "... you could save over half a million dollars a year and improve your inmates' health by serving nutritious vegan meals in state correctional facilities."
