NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A large portion of northern Louisiana is under a winter storm warning until Monday night.

The National Weather Service says freezing rain and sleet are possible along the Interstate 20 corridor.

Forecasters say the precipitation is expected to begin Monday with light sleet with an ice accumulation near one quarter of an inch.

With icy conditions in the forecast, the Louisiana Department of Transportation has already closed Interstate 220 around north Bossier City and Shreveport and Interstate 49 inside the city of Shreveport.

In Ouachita Parish, several I-20 on and off ramps are closed.

School Districts across north Louisiana are closed and Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe canceled classes.

Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols says state government offices will be closed Monday in 26 parishes.
