53-year-old Woodrow Karey of Lake Charles has been arrested after he allegedly went into a church service Friday night and shot dead Pastor Ronald Harris as he was in the middle of a sermon.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers says there were about 60 people in the church at the time. Apparently the suspect fled on foot but eventually surrendered without incident after calling the Sheriff’s office.

Karey was charged with second degree murder. Myers says they are still working to establish motive.
